Amersham Quakers are the local Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends. On this website we provide a brief introduction to our beliefs and our meditative Meetings for Worship. The Meeting belongs to Chilterns Area Quaker Meeting and Britain Yearly Meeting.

Amersham Quaker Meeting House has REOPENED following refurbishment.

Amersham Friends hold Meeting for Worship on Sundays at 11am.

We also have our Midweek Meeting for Worship on the first Tuesday of every month at 12:30, followed by a simple lunch.

What we believe

Quakers will use a variety of words and ways to try to describe how they understand the word 'God' but recognise that all individuals are on a continuing spiritual journey. We believe that there is that of 'God' in everyone.

Having no set dogmas or creeds ourselves, we have always found it easy to tolerate a wide range of views. With no formal priesthood, we listen attentively for the word of God in the gathered silence of our Meeting for Worship sometimes aided by the ministry of those in meditation with us. If this sounds interesting to you, please feel welcome to come to a few of our Meetings or go to different Meetings - no two are the same.

There are numerous leaflets and books about the Society as a whole and you may find our central office with its substantial bookshop and library of interest. For information about the work of the Society which we at local level support in various ways please visit the Quakers in Britain website.
