Monday 2nd AprilThe 'Not Quite Fifth Sunday' Group will be going to the Dickens Bicentennial Exhibition at the Museum of London. They will be accompanied by Tony Williams, co-author of the Handbook, for the visit, a guided walk, and a return by boat along the Thames. Saturday 10th MarchAmersham Friends, in conjunction with Chiltern Youth Projects, will be holding a Spring Festival of Sound and Light at their MH, starting around 19:00. Laser Light Show. Folk Music from Element 15. Sausage Sizzle and hot drinks. All Welcome. Friday 16th MarchPostponed from February: There are still a few places left for the Retreat Day on Simplicity with Jennifer Kavanagh. It will be held at Jordans Quaker Meeting House from 10.00am to 4.00pm. Thursday 22nd MarchA Light Group Meeting with be held at Jordans MH at 17:30. All Welcome Saturday 24th MarchInterfaith Day Out in Leicester hosted by at St Philips Interfaith Centre in Leicester. Includes a visit to a Hindu temple and a synagogue. Coach leaves Quarrendon and Meadowcroft Community Centre 8.45 am returns around 4.45pm. Tickets are £10 (lunch included). Friday 30th March Lacey Green Productions present The Dove by Paul Honigmann at Jordans Quaker Meeting House from 8.00pm. This is a new form of entertainment in which you are the Jury. You will hear the Judge’s summing up and some to the evidence will be shown in dramatic reconstructions. Then as you and other members of your jury enjoy a one course hot supper you will discuss the personal, emotional and moral dilemmas raised and reach your verdict. There is no “correct” answer.
Tickets £12 to include supper. Advance booking essential. If you would like to reserve a ticket please send a cheque, payable to CAQM, for £12 indicating if you would prefer the vegetarian meal to The Dove, C/o Jordans Quaker Meeting House, Welders Lane, Jordans HP9 2SN.

Saturday 3rd DecemberAylesbury Friends will be holding a Winter Fair in the MH from 12 noon to 3pm. They will be selling cakes, biscuits, jams & chutneys and carefully crafted goods [cards, knitted scarves, bags, pictures and more]. Hot drinks & cream scones will be served and there will be folk music and carols. All proceeds will go to Aylesbury Homeless Action Group. Sunday 18th DecemberAmersham Friends will be holding a shared lunch for Christmas at the Meeting House after Meeting for Worship Jordans Friends will be having carol singing and mince pies at the Meeting House at 18:30 There will be carols and mince pies at 6.30 p.m at Jordans Meeting House. Everyone is welcome. Wednesday 21st DecemberAt 7:30pm after evening meeting, Aylesbury Friends will set out from the MH and will be carol singing in central Aylesbury. All welcome! |

Friday 11th NovemberNew Jordans will be running a retreat day on 'The Enneagram' with Judith Priest from 10:00 to 16:00. Please see the New Jordans site for more details. Saturday November 12Deborah Cadbury will be coming to Slough and Windsor Meeting at 7.30pm to talk about her book, The Chocolate Wars. At the start of the 19th Century, all the major English chocoloate manufacturers were Quakers enterprises. In The Chocolate Wars, historian and documentary maker Deborah Cadbury explores her own family history and uncovers the rivalries that have driven 250 years of chocolate empire-building.

This year's theme is 'Make Peace a Way of Life'.Saturday 1st OctoberHigh Wycombe Quakers will be running a market stall at Frogmore, central HW from 09:00 to 12:00 Monday 3rd OctoberThe Quaker Theatre Company performing at the Amersham Quaker Meeting House as part of their autumn tour. They will be performing the two man show: 'George Fox and Margaret Fell Get Stuck in a Lift'. The play, although light-hearted in tone, asks some pertinent questions about Friends attitudes to the peace testimony and the way we conduct our personal lives. George and Margaret are recently divorced but get stuck overnight in a lift together. Unable to escape, they are forced to examine the reasons for the failure of their marriage and why their Quaker beliefs did not see them through. Performance starts at 19:30. Tickets £7 each. Saturday 8th OctoberHigh Wycombe Quakers will have an Open Meeting House to meet local Quakers from 14:00 to 17:00. Refreshments served.

1st - 9th OctoberQuaker WeekSee above for details of Quaker Week activities Wednesday 12th OctoberPsychiatrist Dr Bob Johnson will be giving a talk at Amersham Meeting House on Quaker Meetings and People with Mental Health Issues 19:30 to 21:30. All Welcome. Donations to the James Nayler Foundation Monday 24th OctoberHigh Wycombe Quakers will be having visit from the ‘Experiment with Light Group’ as part of their discussion group series. Monday 24th / Tuesday 25th OctoberSlough and Windsor Quakers will be hosting Special Voices again. This is a small charity that offers respite care to the parents and carers of children with special needs. We each take charge of a child for a two hour session and have a variety of interesting and entertaining things for them to do. It is sobering to discover that at least one of these parents had not had any respite from caring for her severely autistic son for over two years. Another parent said that she felt so happy to be surrounded by things in her home that her daughter had made. Normally she does not create anything. It seems that the young people are keen to come again. Sunday October 30High Wycombe Quakers will have a shared lunch, following Meeting for Worship, then a talk from Andrew Clark entitled ‘Quaker Approaches to Peace Making'. ‘The Not Quite 5th Sunday Group’ activity for teenagers their friends and family. Many of our Meeting Houses will be open to visitors. Saturday 10th SeptemberOpen Day at Aylesbury Meeting House with Witness Exhibition. Quakers in the Chilterns Exhibition at Jordans Meeting House. Cream Teas served in the afternoon. Concert at 5pm. We hope also to be running guided walks from Milton's Cottage to Jordans MH. Details to follow. Sunday 11th SeptemberOpen Day at Amersham Meeting House from 13:00 to 16:30. Come and learn about the history of Quakers in Amersham and enjoy our Fairtrade refreshments. Friends from Jordans Meeting will be travelling to Hall Barn to watch the Chiltern Shakespeare company perform A Winter's Tale. Saturday 11th JuneOpen Day 14:30 to 17:30 at the Swarthmore Residential Home in Gerrards Cross. Includes an exhibition by the home's Art Group. Thursday 16th JuneWycombe Sharing of Faiths Group is offering an evening on the theme of 'Prayer in the Face of Calamity', with contributions from Baha'i, Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Sikh traditions. 7.30—9.00 pm. Green Street Community Centre, Desborough Street, High Wycombe HP11 2RA. Sunday 19th JuneAylesbury Quaker Meeting House will be one of many opening to the public for the annual Aylesbury Secret Gardens Walkabout. We will be serving tea, coffee and scones with cream & jam to visitors. It's usually a lovely event. All welcome! Thursday 23rd JuneA representative from the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) is coming to give a talk at Aylesbury Meeting House 7 - 9pm. All welcome. Ecumenical Accompaniers (EAs) provide protective presence to vulnerable communities, monitor and report human rights abuses, and support Palestinians and Israelis working together for peace.

Slough & Windsor LQM have resumed their midweek meetings. They are held at 10.30am on the first Wednesday of the month at 'All Bar One', next to Windsor Royal Station The 2011 Book of Meetings is out, at £7 per copy.
